Physical realization in Mardin-Ceylanpınar Main Canal 1st section construction has reached 87%.

Mardin-Ceylanpınar Main Canal 1st Section construction as the most important project that will carry water of Mardin and Ceylanpınar Valleys and will enable irrigated agriculture in 170.000 hectares of land when finished has been continuing hastily and physical realization rate has reached 87% as of December 2010.

Canal length is 28.500 metres, canal height is 45 meters and flow rate of carried water is 187 metre cubes / seconds and considering these facts MC1 Main Canal will have a bigger flow rate of water than many rivers in our country.

Canal digging of 26 million metre cubes that contain 80% portion of the work has been completed in a record breaking time as 8 months. At this point, 52% portion of canal coverage concrete, that is to say 15 kilometres have been completed, and was given to service on May 15, 2011 while finishing date was set to be May 15, 2013 according to contract terms of the aforementioned works, 24 months earlier.
